Here's Cairan story. We watched Oprah's primetime show on opening the school in South Africa. I had already watched it and wanted my boys to watch it. Not to see how great Oprah is, but to see the stories of those amazing girls and how life can be much different than the life they know. It certainly had a profound affect on Cairan. He had a hard time controlling his emotions....I refer to it as an overabundance of empathy. He looked up at me through his tear stained face and said, "I just want to do something!" Oh, how I know the feeling. Wanting to make a difference in a big world but feeling so small. We worked through all of the emotions and he decided that he wanted to sleep on the floor "to know how that girl felt". And so he did. I am convinced that he is going to "do something" one day!
